Myanmar's acting president to attend the "SCO Plus" Meeting

BEIJING, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- Min Aung Hlaing, acting president of Myanmar, will attend the "Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Plus" Meeting upon invitation, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun confirmed on Thursday.

Myanmar is an SCO dialogue partner, Guo said.

Guo made the confirmation at a regular news briefing when asked if the acting president has been invited to attend the SCO Tianjin Summit after Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Hong Lei announced earlier Thursday that he will attend China's V-Day commemorations on Sept. 3 in Beijing.

Leaders from Asia, Europe and Africa will gather in the northern Chinese port city of Tianjin from Aug. 31 to Sept. 1 for the largest-ever SCO summit in history.
