The Security Council will hold an open debate on the agenda item “Maintenance of international peace and security: Poverty, underdevelopment and conflict: implications for the maintenance of international peace and security”.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres is expected to the brief the Council, as well as Kanni Wignaraja, Assistant Secretary-General and Regional Director of the Bureau for Asia and the Pacific, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Chairperson of the African Union Commission.
