26.4 kg of heroin seized in Myanmar's Sagaing region

YANGON, July 12 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar authorities have seized 26.4 kg of heroin in Sagaing region, Myanmar, the state-owned daily The Mirror reported on Saturday.

Acting on a tip-off, anti-narcotics police searched a vehicle in Kalay township of Sagaing region on June 28 and confiscated the drugs, the report said.

The seized drugs are estimated to be worth 1.32 billion kyats (about 628,571 U.S. dollars), and two suspects had been arrested for the case, it said.

The suspects connected to the case have been charged under the country's laws, and further investigations are ongoing, it added.
