Myanmar calls on MSMEs to boost economy, exports

YANGON, March 13 (Xinhua) -- The Myanmar government is urging micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to improve the quality of their products to replace imports and expand exports, according to a report by the state-owned daily Myanma Alinn on Friday.

The report quoted Prime Minister U Nyo Saw as speaking at a government meeting on Thursday that if MSME activities develop further, both the national economy and the socio-economic lives of the people will improve.

It also emphasized the importance of raising MSME standards and connecting their operations with international markets.

The report added that MSME activities in the country have been successful and that their contribution to the economic growth is increasing every year.
