Myanmar police destroy 200 acres of poppy in eastern state

YANGON, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar's police have destroyed about 200 acres of opium poppy fields in eastern Shan state, state-owned daily Myanma Alinn reported on Saturday.

The poppy fields, which were destroyed in cooperation with local authorities on Friday, included about 61 acres in Pinlaung township, 16 in Hsi Hseng, 23 in Hopong, 50 in Loilem, 42 in Kengtung, and 8 in Mongton, the report said.
