YANGON, Feb. 8 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar authorities have seized 62 kg of ketamine in eastern Myanmar's Shan state, state-run daily The Mirror reported on Saturday.

Acting on a tip-off, anti-narcotics police searched a vehicle in Kengtung township in eastern Shan state on Feb. 3 and seized the drugs, the report said. A suspect onboard the car was also arrested, it added.

The confiscated drugs are approximately worth 520 million kyats (about 247,619 U.S. dollars), the report said. Investigations revealed that the drugs came from Mongphen town and were intended to be transported to the Myanmar-Thailand border area in Tachileik township, it said.

The suspect has been charged under the country's laws, and further investigations are ongoing, the report added.
