"In the Asian Games, the Myanmar Wushu team had competition experience and had won gold, silver and bronze medals," the coach said, admitting that "this competition will be tough."

YANGON, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- As the 19th Asian Games approach, Myanmar's Wushu athletes have been training hard to achieve the best results in the competition.

Sandi Oo, a 27-year-old Wushu athlete who won the gold medal at the Women's Changquan Wushu competition at the 32nd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in May, had high hopes for the contest.

"According to my experience, the Asian Games are very difficult and stressful. I am trying to get the maximum prize for this competition," she said.

"I prepare mentally and physically to play carefully without making any mistakes," she said, noting that she aims for the top three places if she can play well in the tournament.

The Myanmar Wushu team will be represented by four athletes, one man and three women, who will compete in Taijiquan, Taijijian, Nanquan and Jianshu, among others.

The athletes, together with their coach as well as the president and the vice president of the Myanmar Wushu Federation, on Friday left for the 19th Asian Games to be held from Sept. 23 to Oct. 8 in Hangzhou, China.

The athletes received intensive training day and night in order to win the highest prize in the competition, said coach Swe Swe Thant, adding that their diet and living conditions were closely monitored during the training period.

Aye Thitsar Myint, 27, who won one silver and two bronze medals at the SEA Games, expressed her hope for the upcoming competition.

"I started competing in the 2018 Asian Games held in Indonesia," she said, adding that she ranked fourth place at the games because of a stomachache.

"Now, the competition is a very big opportunity to try one more time to implement my goal that was missed the first time," she said. "I will try my best in the competition to get the highest gold medal award."

According to Myanmar's Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, 111 athletes from the country will compete in the 19th Asian Games.
