HANGZHOU, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- Hosts China crushed India 5-1 in the Group A first round of the Hangzhou Asian Games men's soccer tournament here on Tuesday.

More than 30,000 spectators entered the Huanglong Sports Center Stadium, and amidst enthusiastic cheers, the Chinese team showed a strong offensive spirit throughout the game.

Shortly after the kickoff, China posed constant threats in their opponents' penalty area. In the 16th minute, Gao Tianyi opened the scoring for China after a corner kick.

However, India tied the score just before halftime.

In the second half, China left no chance to India as Dai Weijun, Tao Qianglong and Fang Hao all netted.

"I'm very happy, we cooperated very well and have a tacit understanding with each other," said Gao Tianyi.

"Sometimes you win, but you don't know how to win, tonight we know how to win," said China coach Dejan Durdevic.

China will face Myanmar on Thursday.
