YANGON, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- A total of 62 people were killed and 133 people injured in fire accidents in the first eight months of 2023 in Myanmar, the fire services department said on Friday.
The fire services department said a total of 1,069 fire outbreaks occurred during the January-August period.
The fires also caused damages of over 16.18 billion kyats (over 7.7 million U.S. dollars) and damages to 2,837 buildings, including houses, factories and storehouses, it said.
Last year, 96 people were killed and 139 others injured in 1,507 fire accidents in the Southeast Asian country.
