YANGON, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar's authorities have seized 31.5 kg of 90 heroin blocks worth over 470 million kyats (about 223,809 U.S. dollars) in the country's eastern state of Shan, said a release by the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC) on Thursday.

Acting on a tip-off, anti-narcotic police intercepted a vehicle in Pinlaung Township of the southern Shan state on Aug. 30, and confiscated the drugs.

According to an investigation, the heroin blocks were to be transported to Kayin state from Shan state, said the committee.

The suspect was charged under the country's Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law, it said.

On Wednesday, 17,000 stimulant tablets and 20,000 stimulant tablets were seized in Nawnghkio Township and Taunggyi Township of Shan State respectively, the committee said.
