Myanmar reports 16 new COVID-19 cases

YANGON, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar confirmed 16 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, bringing the tally to 633,261, according to the Ministry of Health on Thursday.

The ministry said in a statement that health authorities tested 8,322 people for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, and the daily positivity rate was 0.19 percent.

The death toll from COVID-19 in the Southeast Asian country remained unchanged at 19,488 on Thursday, as no new deaths were reported in the past 24 hours, the ministry said.

The total number of patients who have recovered from COVID-19 in Myanmar reached 607,777, including 17 new recoveries on Thursday.

The country detected its first COVID-19 cases in March 2020.
