Myanmar reports 27 new COVID-19 cases

YANGON, Aug. 9 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar confirmed 27 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, bringing the tally to 614,240 on Tuesday, according to the Ministry of Health.

The ministry said it tested 6,565 people for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, and the daily positivity rate was 0.41 percent.

It added that the death toll from COVID-19 in the country remained unchanged at 19,434 as no new deaths were confirmed in the past 24 hours.

The total number of patients who have recovered from COVID-19 in the country reached 593,036, including 18 new recoveries on Tuesday.

The Southeast Asian country detected its first COVID-19 cases in March 2020.
