COLOMBO -- Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe on Monday started discussions with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation visiting Sri Lanka.

In a press statement, Wickremesinghe's media division said that a 10-member IMF delegation is in Sri Lanka for 10 days.

The IMF is here for talks on a bailout program for Sri Lanka, which is facing its worst financial crisis since independence. (Sri Lanka-PM-IMF)

YANGON -- Myanmar authorities seized 21.78 kilograms of heroin in Sagaing Region, according to a police release on Sunday.

Acting on a tip-off, the combined team of an anti-narcotics task force made a seizure during their operation in Monywa township of Sagaing region on June 14, confiscating heroin worth over 1 billion kyats (540,540 U.S. dollars) from a vehicle, it said. (Myanmar-Drugs-Arrest)

KABUL -- Acting Deputy Prime Minister of Afghan caretaker government Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar has met Abdulaziz Kamilov, Uzbekistan national security council advisor and special representative of the President for foreign policy, Baradar office said on Monday.

The meeting held on Sunday "focused on bilateral relations between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan, Afghanistan's ties with the international community, the early launch of major economic projects, and cooperation between the two countries," it said in a statement. (Afghanistan-Uzbekistan-Meeting)
