38M vaccine doses from India soon to arrive in PH

MANILA, May 4 (PIA) -- Philippine Ambassador to India Ramon Bagatsing, Jr. assured the public at the Press Briefing yesterday, (May 3) that 30M dosage of Novavax and 8M Covaxin vaccines will arrive in the country soon based on the supply agreement between the Philippines and the Serum Institute of India.

"We hope these requirements can be expedited by the regulatory authorities in the Philippines so it can be brought there. Once all the approvals are in place, they can send it there within one month," he said

Eight million of covaxin can be sent here in the Philippines within one month once the approvals are in placed, according to Bagatsing.

Novavax vaccine, negotiated by Czar Secretary Galvez for the Philippines with the Serum Institute of India is scheduled to be delivered on the 3rd or 4th quarter of this year and it is up for the government to determine how it will be distributed.

Meanwhile, Bagatsing confirmed that there is no announcement on the ban of importing Novavax and guaranteed that upon discussion with the importers and once given approval from the Philippines, the vaccines will be delivered in the country at the soonest time.

He said that they are aware of distribution into three phases such as essential services, age group, and children.

"It is the same experiences being done here in India, and now vaccination is ongoing for the phase 3-18 years old and up," he concluded.
