Bangladesh's daily COVID-19 death toll falls to 5

DHAKA, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- Bangladesh recorded 350 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 5 new deaths on Saturday, bringing its total tally to 543,024 with 8,342 deaths, according to its Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The official data showed that 11,148 samples were tested in the last 24 hours across the Southeast Asian country.

The total number of recovered patients in the country rose to 490,892 with 424 new recoveries on Saturday, said the DGHS.

According to the official data, the COVID-19 fatality rate in Bangladesh currently stands at 1.54 percent and recovery rate at 90.40 percent.

Bangladesh recorded the highest number of daily cases of 4,019 on July 2 and the highest number of deaths of 64 on June 30 last year.
