VIENTIANE, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- Lao government continues to closely monitor people entering the country in efforts to prevent a second wave of COVID-19.
Some 1,965 people entered Laos through international border checkpoints on Tuesday with their body temperatures checked, Deputy Director General of the Department of Communicable Disease Control under the Lao Ministry of Health, Latsamy Vongkhamsao, told a press conference held in the Lao capital Vientiane on Wednesday.
A total of 3,168 people have been quarantined at 33 accommodation centers across the country, according to the report.
The health ministry has urged authorities and people countrywide to remain vigilant and continue to take precautions against the COVID-19 pandemic.
As of Wednesday, Laos has done 64,567 tests with 24 infections detected, and 22 patients have recovered.
The remaining two COVID-19 patients are being treated at the designated hospital, Mittaphab Hospital (Hospital 150) in Vientiane.
Laos reported its first two confirmed COVID-19 cases on March 24.
