BEIJING, June 5 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

THE HAGUE -- The death toll from the novel coronavirus in the Netherlands exceeded the 6,000, the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment announced on Friday.

The number of reported COVID-19 deaths increased by 15 since Thursday to a total of 6,005, showing slowdown over the past month.

KUWAIT CITY -- Kuwait on Friday reported 723 new cases of COVID-19 and eight more deaths, raising the tally of infections to 30,644 and the death toll to 244, the health ministry said in a statement.

Currently, 12,123 patients are receiving treatment, including 197 in ICU, according to the statement.

The ministry also announced the recovery of 1,054 more patients, raising the total recoveries in the country to 18,277.

DHAKA -- Bangladesh Air Force has conducted its second special ferry flight to bring home COVID-19 medical aid supplies from China, the Inter Service Public Relations (ISPR) said.

The ISPR, a department under the defence ministry, said in the statement on Thursday that the transport aircraft returned to Dhaka from China on Wednesday with medical aids.

KIEV -- Ukraine reported 553 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, taking its total to 25,964, the country's health ministry said on Friday.

Since the beginning of the epidemic, 1,859 children and 4,963 health workers have been diagnosed with COVID-19. A total of 11,372 patients have recovered, 7,840 have been hospitalized including 303 children and 935 health workers, and 762 died so far in the country.

KABUL -- Afghanistan on Friday reported 915 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases, taking the country's total to 18,969, the country's Ministry of Public Health said.

Within the past 24 hours, 1,570 tests were conducted, and 915 were positive cases, the ministry said in a statement.

Up to 309 deaths have been recorded since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country in February, an increase of nine within the past 24 hours.
