SEOUL -- Thousands of South Korean fishermen, activists and politicians held a protest rally in central Seoul on Saturday, condemning Japan's dumping of nuclear-contaminated wastewater into the ocean.

The participants shouted "Immediately stop dumping radioactive wastewater into the ocean" and "Japan must store nuclear-contaminated wastewater on its soil," urging the South Korean government to file a lawsuit with the International Tribunal against the Japanese government. FARAH ROD, Afghanistan -- Khudai Rahim, a 54-year-old Afghan, lost two sons in blasts of unexploded ordnance (UXO) in 2021, and his third son was severely injured in a mine blast in 2022 just around their village.

"He (The third son) found a mine. It might be a mortar mine, and he played with it. He was a child and didn't know what that was, but the object exploded and badly injured his belly," said Rahim, a resident of Rigretion village in Farah Rod district, Farah Province. (Afghanistan-War-UXO)

YANGON -- A total of 24 telecom and internet fraud suspects have been brought back from Myanmar to China in four days, the Chinese embassy in Myanmar said on Saturday.

At Myanmar's Yangon International Airport, Myanmar police handed over six suspects to Chinese police on Aug. 23, five suspects on Aug. 24, eight suspects on Aug. 25, and five suspects on Aug. 26, respectively, the embassy said. (Myanmar-China-Fraud)

MANILA -- Dozens of Filipino protesters on Saturday gathered outside the Japanese embassy in capital Manila to condemn Japan's release of nuclear-contaminated wastewater from the crippled Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant into the Pacific Ocean.

The protest came a few days after Japan started dumping the nuke wastewater on Thursday. The protesters, some clad in toxic gas masks, carried placards with English and Japanese slogans opposing Japan's action. (Philippines-Japan-Nuke Wastewater)
